On Monday, the Jefferson-Morgan boys' basketball team will host Waynesburg Central in a Coaches vs. Cancer charity game.

The non-section contest will start with a junior varsity game at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game starting around 7:30 p.m.

J-M boys basketball coach Fred Morecraft has organized this event and is looking forward to raising money for cancer research.

"Our goal is to raise $1,000 for cancer research," Morecraft said. "My wife's cousin, who was two years old at the time, passed away from cancer a couple of years ago and I have been trying to put something together for cancer research. This has been my pet project the last couple of years and I'm glad we are getting it together. We should get a good turnout."

Along with the two basketball games, there will be half-court shot and free throw competitions during breaks in the action.

Also, there will be T-shirts and other items for sale in the lobby outside of the gymnasium. All of that money will be donated to cancer research as well.

"We encourage all to come to the event," Morecraft said. "It should be a fun event and we are looking forward to doing this for such a nice cause. Hopefully this will catch on in the coming years and this can be an annual event. I'm looking forward to it."
